The Age-Friendly Minnesota (AFMN) Council, in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Human Services, is offering Community Grants to help communities work on age-friendly projects and become better places for all Minnesotans to grow older. Applicants can request between $1,000 and $99,000 for any stage of the project, be it needs assessment and research, developing a plan, implementing an age-friendly framework, or completing improvements to the built environment.
A grant can be submitted under any one of the following focus areas:
- Health and Social Services
- Transportation Access
- Safe, Affordable Places to Live
- Social Connection and Inclusion
- Ageism and Racism
- Outdoor Spaces and Buildings
- Communication and Information Technology
- Opportunities to Stay Engaged and Financially Secure
- Emergency Preparedness
The application is open now, viewable online, and will close on February 6 at 10 a.m.
Apply to make your community better, safer, and more accessible for older adults. An information session will be held on January 20 via Zoom. Details and login information are available on the AFMN website.
In addition, West Central Initiative is partnering with the AFMN council to provide Technical Assistance to communities in our region. If your community has an idea that you would like to formalize into an application to this program but need support in applying for and/or implementing grant projects, you may receive no-cost technical assistance from AFMN Technical Assistance Provider (TAP) grantees. TAP assistance is designed to help Community Grant applicants who may have limited experience and/or capacity related to applying for grants and carrying out grant-funded projects.
To request technical assistance, email AFMN between January 9 – 19, 2023, to be considered and potentially matched with a consultant.
