Olivia Daniels has joined West Central Initiative as our Summer 2024 Climate Resilience Fellow as part of Ampact’s Summer Impact Corps. Ampact is a national nonprofit that specializes in managing and scaling high-quality AmeriCorps programs, offering evidence-based initiatives in three focus areas: education, environment, and healthy futures. Olivia will focus on implementing sustainable community initiatives and enhancing climate resilience efforts across our region.

“The West Central Initiative transportation department is excited to add Olivia to our team for the summer,” said Mallory Jarvi, our Transportation Planner. “Olivia will assist with active transportation outreach and education and work on implementing action items from west central Minnesota’s Climate Action Plan.”
Olivia, originally from Fergus Falls, Minnesota, is a junior at Chapman University in Orange, California, pursuing a degree in Environmental Science & Policy with an emphasis in ecology.
Beyond her academics, Olivia actively engages with the Discovery Cube in Santa Ana, California. She collaborates on improving data collection methods from beach clean-ups and emphasizes the importance of clear and accessible communication of their findings to the community.
“I am excited to make a difference in my hometown and surrounding communities,” said Olivia. “I want to keep in mind both the well-being of the people and our climate!”
As the Climate Resilience Fellow, Olivia will work on several key projects to foster sustainable practices and prepare our communities for the impacts of climate change.
We eagerly anticipate the impactful work she will accomplish during her fellowship.
Welcome to the team, Olivia!
